Child Sexual Abuse Charges and Penalties

Michigan categorizes Child Sexual Abuse into two distinct degrees based on the nature and unique circumstances of the crime.

The charges you may be facing depend on the age of the child:

  • Criminal Sexual Conduct First Degree (CSC 1) carries with it a possible mandatory minimum of 25 years in prison.
  • Criminal Sexual Conduct Second Degree (CSC 2) carries with it a possible mandatory minimum of 15 years in prison.

CSC First and Third degrees involve allegations of penetration, which includes oral sex. Many people do not realize that oral sex is considered sex. Convictions for any of these offenses require sex offender registration, but our team of sex crime attorneys are aware of several ways to attempt to avoid registering as a sex offender.
